In "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" one statement is repeated over and over again: art is the only thing that gives meaning to life. I did not understand this when I read the book, and probably I still do not understand it fully. But it makes sense. Instead of art, one could name it "the beautiful things". And seen from that perspective, it's true: beautiful things are the only things that are worthwhile. Such things can be anything. For me it is photography, digital design, portraits, audio and video editing. For others it is books, comics, TV series. And for mostly everyone, it's the people. Without these forms of "art", it would be hard to find motivation for anything.

Rather than consuming "art", my greatest motivation is trying to create it
